From Within is a 30" x 40" Frida Kahlo portrait oil painting by artist Rebecca Robb.
As I was painting this portrait of Frida Kahlo, I naturally assumed I would call it "Frida" especially this being my first rendition of the historic figure.
With each stroke of my brush, I thought about Frida's amazing courage and determination to push through some of life's most trying obstacles, to be hungry for growth and to pursue her interests.
So many times I wonder, if certain experiences in my life hadn't occurred, I might be further ahead in my career. But maybe it would be the opposite. Maybe the struggles make us hungrier for what we want, and through the chase of what appears to be just out of reach, we grow stronger and therfore more successful.
The words " From Within" kept nudging at me as I was adding the final elements to this original. It's from within that we find our courage and strength.
