One of the most beautiful moments in nature is right after a storm. Light begins to peak through dark clouds creating a captivating contrast. A storm can feel apprehensive at best and frightening to experience full force.
Sails Down was inspired by the uncertainty of our current global environment. Going through something as destabilizing as covid-19 can feel like being tossed about like a small boat in an unpredictable sea. Likewise, this painting was also inspired by the beauty that comes with a storm, the beauty of light and rare colors breaking through darkness, of strength and wisdom from endurance. During troubling times there is still so much to appreciate while we hang on together until we can raise our sails once again.
