“Head On” is a small impressionistic study I painted to loosen my brushstrokes and familiarize myself with painting ocean waves. This lone sailboat study has lots of movement with dramatic brushwork in the clouds, sail and wave. The simple composition provides opportunity to create interest through texture and color. The boat is breaking up the water behind it leaving ribbons of sea foam across a green wave. I love a green wave in a blue ocean.
