“Drifting” is one of five paintings of my marine life collection. I loved exaggerating the various colors that light casts on the tentacles and suckers of the octopus. I wanted a bit more of an abstract perspective and painted the octopus as seen from underneath, as if it’s drifting out of the shot. This allowed me to focus on details of the many suckers and draw attention to their shape, various sizes and the changes of warm and cool colors depending on how the light hits them.
